Induction Cooktop Sales Surge in India Amid LPG Shortage

LPG Shortage in India Triggers Surge in Induction Cooktop Sales

Sales of induction cooktops have sharply increased across India as a shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) affects households and restaurants.

The supply disruption is linked to tensions in West Asia, which have affected LPG shipments to several countries, including India. As cooking gas becomes harder to find in some areas, many people are turning to electric cooking appliances.

Online marketplaces and quick-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, and Zepto have reported a sudden surge in demand for induction cooktops. In some cases, sales increased several times within a few days.

Restaurants and small food businesses are also facing challenges due to limited LPG supply. Some kitchens have reduced operations or switched to electric appliances like induction stoves and microwaves to continue serving customers.

Experts warn that the rapid shift to electric cooking could increase electricity demand in the coming months, especially during the summer season.

For now, authorities and energy companies are monitoring the situation and working to stabilize LPG supply across the country.
